Besides their domestic applications, LEDs are one of the most popular choices for artsy endeavors around the globe, from stage, architectural and sculpture lighting, to wearable light costumes and the creation of entire structures made of light.
Burning Man, the preeminent arts festival world-wide, for instance, has grown to accommodate 40,000 participants every August in the Nevada desert heat, and attracts some of the biggest and brightest LED art installations each year. Even the Burning Man website touts the benefits of LEDs: “When choosing lights to make your camp or art project dazzle at night, choose LED's & EL wire. They'll suck less juice from your generator or solar system and last year after year.”
Elemental LED offers some of the best LED lighting for every purpose, and if your goal is to light up the desert sky through your latest sculpture, you’ve come to the right place. Our flexible RGB LED light, for example, displays every color in the spectrum and comes with a controller so the user can determine which colors are displayed when. This LED strip light lasts for 50,000 hours with an unprecedented low level of emissions; it will operate at $3 per watt if left on for an entire year. One watt of energy will power 10 feet of the flexible RGB LED strip, while one incandescent bulb uses 60 to 100 watts.
So while driving an RV out to the desert and running its air conditioner for a week straight may not be the most environmentally conscious way to spend your time, at least you’ll know you chose the right lighting by mother nature when you choose LEDs for all of your art and festival needs.
